Parallel and series hook-ups, see the schematic wiring diagram in the rear of this manual. The Hickok Model 6000A Dynamic Mutual Conductance Tube Tester.
Hickok 6000a Tube tester as shown in pics.
This tester has been converted to a digital meter as the original meter was missing when I got this years back. Basically set the line voltage at 50 on the digital readout to set the meter and set the bias per the Hickok chart. I checked the calibration on this as shown in pics Spec Measured signal voltage 2.5v 2.498 Plate voltage 150v 149.1 Grid bias @100 40v 40.66 Grid bias @ 22 3.0v 2.932 balance test @ 0 I included pics of the tests I calibrated this a few years ago and it is still holding very good. This has a very strong GE 83 tube inside and the 5Y3gt was a NOS a couple years ago and tests very strong still. for Micromhos readings simply multiply the digital readout x 60 and it should read the Hickok spec. I have shown a pic of a 12AU7 tested on this tester and also my B&K747. Hickok spec is 2200 micromhos. This tests at 40.1. (40.1 x 60 = 2406) 2406 = 109.3% on the Hickok B&K shows it testing at 110% The same for a NOS 6L6GC I tested at 80.6 (80.6 x 60 = 4836) Hickok spec is 5000 This tests at 4910 on my custom spec tester. When testing emissions only such as a 5u4 it operates as a 0-100 scale. Change the function switch to 'D' and test as normal per Hickok settings. Typical 5U4 will test around 85 on the digital meter. This is missing the roll chart as shown but I have included a printout with the settings. The roll chart mechanism is there but does not roll well and looks like the teeth on gears are rough. The meter runs on a 9v battery and I have that mounted inside as shown. There is a switch above meter to turn it off and with very little current draw it should last a long time if turned off when not in use. Tube sockets are very tight and pics show inside quite clean. I think it is probably a low usage machine since the meter went out at some point. The case is sound with normal usage on the tolex being not bad as shown in pics. Hickoks have a three red dot system on the shunt control to set the micromhos range. By using a digital meter you can just leave it on the 2nd dot and test most tubes. Since the meter has increased accuracy as compared to the old analog meters, it also shows a very small flutter when testing high current tubes. A 6l6 may float between 79.5 and 81 initially but usually settles down after 10 seconds of test or so. I have also converted my 533a to a digital meter as it is working so well. This is a nice little tester. Will be shipped by Fedex with delivery signature required. (No P.O.Boxes) Contact me with any questions. Product Specs
